We had the amazing opportunity of running the show for the most recent Cole + Parker lifestyle photo shoot for their new website! We had to accomplish 35 different scenes/lifestyles to represent each of the fun, vibrant socks. This meant styling 35+ different looks, finding 35+ locations, and a lots of propping! This was right up our alley, mixing business with pleasure, because we truly enjoyed the experience. Thank you to David E White who allowed us to use their […]
Well ladies and gentlemen, two years living in London has FLOWN by. I cannot express how wonderful this entire experience has been for Jesse and I. Our move to London came with it’s rocky start… navigating around a new city, not knowing anyone, both jobless. With a little effort, we found ourselves both employed, adopting a rescue dog (our darling blog-featured Nancy), and networking/befriending some amazing people. My two college years not only educated me about the business behind […]
The stars aligned for Mr. + Mrs. Lofthouse. It is a rare happening; however, we both shared the same “day-off” together from work. Some might wonder what we do in our spare time together– two of our favourite things of course! Shopping and blogging. In early February 2013, at the corner of Oxford and Hyde Park Road, The Spectacle Company opened its doors to the city of London. We happen to love supporting local businesses with promotional blogging, so when […]
Another project within the Fashion Merchandising program was “specialty modeling”. We found a special little girl named Nancy-Pants who was happy to work for cheese (no pun intended). She rocked these three shots, as did our male model Jesse! We drew inspiration from the Warby Parker April Fools campaign “Warby Barker”, google it… it’s a hoot! Special thanks to Monique Wiendels who photographed and edited the pictures, as well as stylist and basset hound lover Meagan Dobbie.

I am finishing up my last two months of Fashion Merchandising, and one of my favourite classes happens to be photo styling. I love the creative freedom we have for all of our projects. Classmate Meagan Dobbie and I styled this shoot, both the clothing, and scenic choices. Meg and I had the pleasure of working with photographer Monique Wiendels. To switch things up a bit from what we’re comfortable with, we decided to feature a young fashionable male, unfortunately […]

What a busy year it has been for both of us. In order to introduce our pup Nanc to the wonderful world of Winnipeg, we decided to make our holiday visit… a road trip! Working up until the last minute, we didn’t have time to check the weather network before venturing off to Chicago, Wisconsin… need we say more? The storm of the Century took us by surprise… but we made it through… and we were not just happy, but […]

This holiday season J. Lofthouse was hired to decorate the common area of a downtown corporate building. Within the budget we transformed gold and red past year decorations to white and silver! Simple, yet elegant! Here are a few pictures of the results: If you’re ever in need of a little corporate, or home decorating, give us a shout! We’d love to help!

A particular trend that is becoming popular amongst bloggers is posting past instagram photos. I know that I get a little carried away with Instagram, and fully expect my friends to make fun of how often I post; however, it’s a lovely way of staying connected to those back home. We both enjoy filing our families in on the little endeavors we take on daily… not to mention the OOTD… gotta have the OOTD! (That is “Outfit of the Day”, […]

It’s that time of year again… dusting off the LBD, or shopping for a new one. Christmas parties allow you to reconnect with close, or distant friends, and finally spend some long awaited time together. To kick off our Christmas season, our good friend hosted a fantastic soiree. The evening was catered, open bar, as well as a live jazz band. If anyone know how to throw a good party, it is this guy. We sang, we danced, we were […]
A couple weeks back I dropped in to David E. White Barber Shop for my first clean up shave of “Movember”. Not being very familiar with the old fashion shave, I was a little nervous and had to trust Ken with the blade. As soon as we started, I realized this was not your typical five minute shave. Ken the barber took me through a full thirty-minute process, which involved everything from hot towels, moisturizing lotions, a precise clean shave, […]
Just a couple more days and the J. Lofthouse online store will be up and running! We are in the midst of loading up our inventory, and working out any kinks. New arrivals will be available each week. A portion of sales will go to the Masigcine home (South Africa), a place close to our hearts. We hope you can find something you love! “Like” our FB page, or check back on Saturday to check out our little online boutique!
I am very much enjoying my last year as a fashion merchandising student. Creative projects are what fill up our semesters, and I can’t get enough! Here is a display I created earlier this week. I’ll be sure to post my portfolio at the end of the year. For now I’ll just post snippets of projects I enjoy… such as this one!
Jesse and I live in a beautiful heritage home, but if you know anything about old homes, closet space is not a priority. Our guest room originally was half a closet, half a sleeping place for guests. Things were a little crammed, and for a fashion lover, closet space is a priority (if you have the space). We decided to turn our very neglected office into a small walk in closet. By no means is it a professional walk-in (which […]
