May 2013 marks the month we both start new jobs within the retail world. Jen, working at Saffron Road, a boutique that caters to women, and men, living busy, multifaceted lives. Jesse, working at Club Monaco an international men’s and women’s lifestyle brand with a distinctly urban casual point of view; “best defined as a play of opposites: mixing vintage with new, hard with soft and eclecticism with minimalism.“ We both are so honoured and excited to be working for such well respected companies, and cannot wait to learn and experience new things. We LOVE clothes, and are thrilled to be working with such beautiful merchandise, day in and day out.

We hope that you continue to follow along with us as we explore the fashion and lifestyle world. Jen will be taking the reins on the social media at SR, so we invite you to start following along by: “Liking” the Saffron Road Facebook Page, and follow the blog on Tumblr.

On a side note: We are visiting Winnipeg next week for Kris + Christine’s Social! We hope to see our Winnipeg friends and family there! Cole + Parker : Photo Shoot

We had the amazing opportunity of running the show for the most recent Cole + Parker lifestyle photo shoot for their new website! We had to accomplish 35 different scenes/lifestyles to represent each of the fun, vibrant socks. This meant styling 35+ different looks, finding 35+ locations, and a lots of propping! This was right up our alley, mixing business with pleasure, because we truly enjoyed the experience. We got to work with an amazing photographer, Justyna Sokolowski who was up for any challenge, and caught every fun moment on camera. Thank you to David E White who allowed us to use their location as a backdrop, as well as Leslie’s Clothing for supplying a few of the stylish looks! It was lovely spending a day with such wonderful people, thank you to everyone who was involved! Can’t wait to see the final results!

Spring Air

Today I am enjoying my first, school-free day off. I have the doors of both balconies open (opposite sides of our apartment) a beautiful breeze is filling our place up with Spring air. Somehow, symbolically the fresh air is getting me excited to start a new chapter of my life.

If you’ve read my previous post “Connect 2013“, you will know that last Monday was my year end showcase of my college Fashion Merchandising program. It was a huge success, and I managed to create the award winning booth, along with receiving an “enthusiastic” award, as well as the top visual merchandising award. Thank you to all my friends and family who visited my booth, and shared in my special evening. I know my family was disappointed not all of them could make it out from Winnipeg; however, you sent one heck of a woman to represent all of you, and I was so grateful to have by my side.

To all my classmates, It was such a pleasure, and delight having spent two years with such wonderful, creative, entertaining people. I hope that we can all connect through our careers, and friendships in the future. Congratulations to all my fellow FM graduates! We did it!

Connect 2013

Well ladies and gentlemen, two years living in London has FLOWN by. I cannot express how wonderful this entire experience has been for Jesse and I. Our move to London came with it’s rocky start… navigating around a new city, not knowing anyone, both jobless. With a little effort, we found ourselves both employed, adopting a rescue dog (our darling blog-featured Nancy), and networking/befriending some amazing people.

My two college years not only educated me about the business behind fashion, but heightened my passion for the industry, I wouldn’t trade this overall experience for the world. Thank you so much to all my teachers, employers, classmates, and mentors who were crucial to my overall growth and development these past two years.

My program has a year end showcase called “Connect 2013″, this concept takes a “job-fair” and reverses the roles. Basically each students sets up a booth that represents themselves, and showcases their work, portfolio, and resumes. Each student invites industry members to attend, in which everyone benefits through networking. This evening is also open to family and friends to come see first hand what we all have been up to for the past two years!

I welcome everyone to attend, see you soon Mum!

I had the delight of helping out in a few areas of Ashley & Juans wedding last summer. By no means am I a videographer, but their wedding presented the perfect opportunity to try my (hopefully steady) hand at this art. We cannot believe how quickly this year is flying by. We love spring for a number of reasons. When it comes to fashion, pastels are always such a beautiful switch up from the dreary winter layers.
