The Spectacle Company

March 25, 2013 by Lofthouse

The stars aligned for Mr. + Mrs. Lofthouse. It is a rare happening; however, we both shared the same “day-off” together from work. Some might wonder what we do in our spare time together– two of our favourite things of course! Shopping and blogging. In early February 2013, at the corner of Oxford and Hyde Park Road, The Spectacle Company opened its doors to the city of London. We happen to love supporting local businesses with promotional blogging, so when […]

Meaghan Waller.

November 2, 2012 by Lofthouse

*Photographs by Brittany Hildebrandt Photography* From Assiniboine Park (WPG) to Central Park (NYC), Meaghan Waller has left her home and is venturing (successfully) to the big apple, not to mention travelling the globe. The Fashion industry has accepted Meaghan and has provided my darling, long-limbed friend with endless work, and doesn’t seem to be giving her back! This just means a visit to NYC is in our near future. We must see, first-hand what this gal has been up to! […]

Greta Constantine

October 28, 2012 by Lofthouse

Saffron Road, a local boutique to the city of London hosted a party featuring Greta Constantine.  The evening was filled with interesting people, shopping, drinks (one called Greta… the other Constantine), and the guests of honour, Stephen and Kirk, the Canadian designers themselves!  Throughout the evening, models would be walking about the party, sporting Greta’s Spring 2013 collection (draw-dropping, attention to detail, beautiful). Below are a few pictures we snapped throughout the party, so lovely spending time with great people, […]

Fanshawe Co-Op

July 25, 2012 by Lofthouse

Networking is a wonderful thing, much thanks to the Fanshawe staff that featured me on the Fashion Merchandising page via Facebook!  Be sure to “like” to keep up to date with this wonderful program! Jen didn’t take any time to relax after finishing first year and instead got right down to work with some new summer projects. In addition to her blog (J. Lofthouse) that she started two years ago when she lived in Winnipeg, she works at Leslie’s, a […]

March 25, 2012 by Lofthouse

I just LOVE the newest addition to the Exchange District in Winnipeg.  Say good-bye to Vintage Glory, and hello to “Rhymes With Orange” a trendy vintage shop, located across from Paperdoll Clothing.  Let either Doug, Erin, or Stefanie help you pick out a fabulous vintage item for your wardrobe! Below are pictures from my recent visit to Winnipeg… the day I visited the lovely ladies at their shop!

Edward Carriere

March 8, 2012 by Lofthouse

As a little girl, I remember going everywhere with my Mum.  One of these venues was an old house… where we would go upstairs, and she would get her haircut, and the odd time I got my hair cut as well.  This location isn’t just an old house, but a character home turned into a hair salon/boutique Winnipeg knows as Edward Carriere. Now as an adult, I truly appreciate the character of this building, the fabulous hairdressers/staff, and the unique […]

Lune Vintage

February 23, 2012 by Lofthouse

A few short months ago, some of us lucky Winnipeg Fashion Bloggers were featured on Style Nine to Five. Honouring hard work with simple recognition is arguably the best feeling in the world. Sometimes, we as bloggers, wonder who is actually reading our posts – and if there are people out there even interested in what we have to say? We worry our readers might feel harassed by their buzzing news feed. In the spirit of recognizing others’ work, I […]

Local Advancers: Peter Takis

December 19, 2011 by Lofthouse

Winnipeg high school student and entrepreneur Peter Takis is taking the city by storm with his urban streetwear company, Local Advancers.  I had the pleasure of interviewing the extremely personable Peter Takis.  I’m very impressed by this talented, and determined Winnipegger, and he’s so young! Watch out Canada- this guy’s going to rock our world. Describe the style Local Advancers clothing has in one sentence: Our style is classic, simple and wearable. What does a Local Advancers collection contain? T-shirts, […]

Fashion for Paws: Fashion Show

December 14, 2011 by Lofthouse

Second year fashion merchandising students at Fanshawe hosted “Fashion for Paws”.  This particular fashion show teamed up with three downtown London boutiques:  Frilly Lizard, Commander Salamander, and Lolita.  The featured garments from these stores were draped beautifully on the Anitanorris models. Paired with each model was a fuzzy friend; a rescue dog from the CanFix organization.  The purpose of the fashion show was to raise money for the Canfix organization and also to raise awareness of the need for humane […]

Holiday Bootie Giveaway!

November 30, 2011 by Lofthouse

One thing many people love about Christmas is the gift of giving… and of course the occasional receiving of gifts!  A couple weeks ago I posted on my facebook status asking if anyone had an eight the shoe size, and to my surprise, I know many people with a size eight foot!  I’d like to give-away these brand new Aldo boots to one my blog readers!  So if you have a size eight, or a friend/family member that is an […]

Leather & Lace Jewelry

November 26, 2011 by Lofthouse

Inspired by the Stevie Nicks song “Leather & Lace”,  Manitoba artist, Joanne Patenaude, has created quite the name for herself with her line: Leather and Lace Jewelry .  I had the pleasure of attending one of Joanne’s jewelry launches, and I was impressed the minute I arrived.  Not only is her jewelry unique, funky, and vintage but it was also presented so beautifully on various antique backings, screens, and fabrics.  Joanne puts so much detail into each jewelry creation, her packaging, and her […]
