Lennard Taylor

December 23, 2011 by Lofthouse

Winnipeg artist Lennard Taylor is known for his abstract and diverse artwork but what caught my eye was his custom tailored clothing line.  After interviewing Lennard, I can genuinely say I admire his honest and unique approach to his art.  The man definitely knows what he is talking about and is not afraid to step outside the box.  Check out the the talented Winnipeg artist’s answers below… Where do your collections and artwork draw inspiration from? I draw inspiration from […]

Last Minute Christmas Shopping!

December 21, 2011 by Lofthouse

Unfortunately I’ve been that shopper who has been clogging up the mall with my many shopping bags (made extra large because of box requests), also I’m usually carrying a heavy winter jackets matched perfectly with an oversized purse.  Fortunately I also have been a “wise Christmas shopper” who has done a LOT of shopping from the comfort of my own home… online!  Many people are skeptical of online purchases, there is always the chance something won’t  fit properly; however, many […]

Local Advancers: Peter Takis

December 19, 2011 by Lofthouse

Winnipeg high school student and entrepreneur Peter Takis is taking the city by storm with his urban streetwear company, Local Advancers.  I had the pleasure of interviewing the extremely personable Peter Takis.  I’m very impressed by this talented, and determined Winnipegger, and he’s so young! Watch out Canada- this guy’s going to rock our world. Describe the style Local Advancers clothing has in one sentence: Our style is classic, simple and wearable. What does a Local Advancers collection contain? T-shirts, […]

Cheesy Conclusion.

December 16, 2011 by Lofthouse

While visiting Winnipeg solo for the holidays; I came to lovely little conclusion [while talking with my sister-in-law via text] “I’m not in love with a city- just a boy” – It’s so reassuring and amazing to have such “cheesy” feelings for someone- and just to feel content when your with them- wherever you might be living.  So Winnipeg- it’s been a slice- and I do love all the wonderful people living here; however, I love my boy more!

A Paperdoll Clothing Event

December 16, 2011 by Lofthouse

In the heart of Winnipeg’s Exchange District lays an adorable boutique, Paperdoll Clothing.   The three owners of this boutique decided to host their first “Family & Friends Private Event”.  The store was filled with the hustle and bustle of close friends and family who were thrilled to be invited, and of course excited to get their “shop-on”.  The ladies of Paperdoll made the evening extra special with some amazing deals, and a beautiful spread of wine and cheese.  Overall […]

Fashion for Paws: Fashion Show

December 14, 2011 by Lofthouse

Second year fashion merchandising students at Fanshawe hosted “Fashion for Paws”.  This particular fashion show teamed up with three downtown London boutiques:  Frilly Lizard, Commander Salamander, and Lolita.  The featured garments from these stores were draped beautifully on the Anitanorris models. Paired with each model was a fuzzy friend; a rescue dog from the CanFix organization.  The purpose of the fashion show was to raise money for the Canfix organization and also to raise awareness of the need for humane […]

Holiday Dress Mission

December 13, 2011 by Lofthouse

During my visit home to Winnipeg for the holidays, I find myself killing time throughout the day awaiting friends and family to get off work (or school). I am by no means complaining, I’d much prefer to kick back rather than do homework or work.  A friend realized how free I was during the day, and how busy she was during the day, and asked if I could find her the perfect holiday dress for her upcoming work Christmas party.  […]

Sparkle Your Holiday!

December 5, 2011 by Lofthouse

If you’ve been a hermit these past few months, I’m happy to inform you that sequins are IN for this holiday season.  You literally can sparkle at your upcoming holiday festivities, especially at New Years. I’ve been visiting Winnipeg for the past two days now, and have been mixing business with pleasure by shopping, and of course seeking new content for this blog.  So far, I’ve shopped Polo Park, The Closet Chick, and the Exchange District.  All of these locations […]

Love & Hate

December 2, 2011 by Lofthouse

Moving away really allows you to see who is most important in your life.  It’s been a real eye opener, but I can officially say, my biggest pet-peeve is a fair-weather friend. Greatest Love:  Relationships that last through it all <3

Re-Love Fashion Show

December 1, 2011 by Lofthouse

In describing the outcome of our Reduce-Reuse-Revolve fashion show, the word “success” might be an understatement. The London Music Hall was absolutely glowing with “love”.  Fashion Merchandising students (in their second year) put on one spectacular evening for everyone, in hopes of raising money for “My Sisters Place”.   The first year students of Fashion Merchandising, including myself, were the ones who created the garments (revamped good-will items) that were featured on the runway.  Check out the pictures and captions below, […]
